Description
Birmingham 1938 English hallmarked solid silver large presentation trowel, contained in the original fitted case. With large, beautifully carved ivory handle, and Welsh related engraving, this is a lovely example.Made by Barker Brothers, very good makers.
The waisted carved ivory handle is very tactile, and the trowel has unusually detailed and attractive engraving.
Size-13.25 inches long by 3.5 inches wide.
Originally used in the building trade to present at a topping out ceremony when the building was finished, it is also used today to serve cakes, pies and other desserts in addition to its original use.
A wonderful very hard to find piece with both trowel and case in very good condition.
