Description

18th century London 1791 English hallmarked solid silver bright cut teaspoon by the famous Bateman family, Peter and Ann in this case.
Interestingly, this was made in the first year that these two became established.
This spoon has the long oval graceful bowl, characteristic of the period, and a long tapering curved handle fully decorated with beautiful bright cut engraving. There are also contemporary initials D+J in the cartouche, undoubtedly a wedding gift for the original owners.
Size-4 7/8 inches long.
Weight-12 grams.
The hallmarks are clear with just some rubbing to the maker's mark.
A very nice example of an 18th century teaspoon in very good antique condition.
This would make a lovely gift for a Christening, wedding or for a collector.
