Description
Circa 1880 part leather bound volume of The National Portrait Gallery book featuring 40 biographies of British notable men, each with a full page portrait. Examples are The Archbishop of Canterbury, The Right Honourable Benjamin Disraeli, and Lord Chief Justice Cockburn.
The book has approximately 320 pages, and has a leather ribbed and gilt spine, part covers and corners, with matched cloth inbetween. Also with marbled end papers to front and back, and marbled page edges.
A very attractive and interesting compilation for the library to read or display.
9 inches wide by 11 inches wide, by 1.5 inches deep.
Published in London, Paris and New York, by Cassell, Petter and Galpin.
With some scattered foxing, and rubbing to leather, but with tight and secure binding, in overall very good condition.
