Description

Christofle of Paris, famous French maker late 19th century/early 20th century unusual and wonderful silver plate serving set comprising 6 servers in the original leatherette green lined fitted case bearing the gilt Christofle retail stamp. 3 of the servers are types of forks, while 3 are types of spoons, and all are marked with the Christofle mark.
Christofle started in 1830 and has been run by the family all this time. The company is known for their fine craftsmanship and quality of their silverplate. Christofle bought the French rights to the plating process from Elkington in England.
A truly lovely set with a scroll and shell double struck pattern, beautifully crafted and heavy in weight. The piercings of the two spoons are exquisite, while the tines of the forks still have sharp points.
Size-approximately 6.75 inches long each. Size of case overall is 6.25 inches wide by 10.25 inches long by 1.75 inches high.
Weight-580 grams including case, or 250 grams cutlery only.
A very functional and unusual set for hors d'oeuvres, dessert, or any foods.
