Description
19th century walnut writing slope with ebony banding and leather writing surface to the fitted interior interior.The beautiful walnut grain and figuring makes this a very decorative yet functional piece. It is outlined with ebony, and bears a vacant brass cartouche to the centre of the rising lid, as well as a brass escutcheon around the lock.
The fitted interior has a removable pen rest, and a green leather gilt embossed writing surface. The grain is as attractive on the interior as it is on the exterior. Both sides of the writing surface lift up for storage of papers and letters below.
The underside is lined with the original black baize to protect the table surface.
Size-15.75 inches long by 9.25 inches wide by 6.5 inches high.
With lovely colour, grain, and patina, this is a really nice writing slope in very good condition.
A lovely box for the collector, or interior designer, or a great gift, which will make a decorative focal point on desk or table.
