Description

A very fine set of three English hallmarked solid silver spoons comprising a pair of London 1801 berry table spoons, and a London 1777 solid silver sugar sifting spoon, all made by Thomas Wallis II, and all having been together as a set for many generations.
They are contained within a striking fitted velvet and satin lined case.
These make a wonderful set of spoons to use for serving whatever you wish.
They are wonderful quality large table or serving spoons, and beautifully decorated on both sides. The shaped bowls are decorated with various raised repousse fruit and leaves, while the stems are profusely engraved with ovals and foliate decoration, on both sides. A stylised initial, appears on the cartouche of one side.
The sugar sifter also has delicate ruffled edges to the bowl, and the piercings are formed in the shape of bunches of grapes. The internal bowls retain the original light gilding.
Size-9 inches long by 1.75 inches wide (serving spoons) and 7.25 inches long by 2 inches wide (sugar sifter).
Weight-180 grams silver only, and 495 grams including case.
A lovely set in very good condition with excellent gauge and weight. They are both beautiful and functional for serving food, and will be a focal point of the dining table, or make a stunning gift.
