19th century lovely large solid oak campaign or military type travelling box with original key.
With the original brass fittings to corners, strapwork, recessed side handles, hinges, escutcheon and cartouche, as well as the original lock and key.
This is a large and solidly built box, which is most decorative, and very useful for collectables, papers, or even a family bible.

19thC (dated 1889) superbly fitted mahogany violin case.
1889 custom made superior quality violin case with silver plated furniture, engraved brass plaque to top, luxurious interior, and with original key. Made in France, as a bespoke item for its English owner.
Fitted compartments and tufted and shaped separate cushion to cover instrument. Luxury aubergine fabric and ribbon inside. This would have been for an important violin.
Plaque is engraved to E.F.M Cater, Corran Harrow, June 11th 1889.
A wonderful talking point to use or display, in very good condition.

19th century wonderful mahogany and satinwood inlaid work box with lovely central inlay.
19th century striking solid mahogany work box, crossbanded and fan shape corner inlaid on all sides with satinwood, and having satinwood, boxwood and mahogany inlay to centre, making a wonderful central starburst pattern.
The hinged rising lid reveals a vacant interior which allows storage of papers, jewellery, sewing accoutrement, or whatever one wishes.
Very nice pale colour, grain and patina.

A really lovely, unusual and elegant box that will make a great and functional present for a man or a woman, which will also make a beautiful display on desk, dressing table or table.

19th century lovely walnut writing slope with fitted interior and leather writing surface.
19th century walnut writing slope with ebony banding and leather writing surface to the fitted interior interior.
The beautiful walnut grain and figuring makes this a very decorative yet functional piece. It is outlined with ebony, and bears a vacant brass cartouche to the centre of the rising lid, as well as a brass escutcheon around the lock.
The fitted interior has a removable pen rest, and a green leather gilt embossed writing surface. The grain is as attractive on the interior as it is on the exterior. Both sides of the writing surface lift up for storage of papers and letters below.
The underside is lined with the original black baize to protect the table surface.
Size-15.75 inches long by 9.25 inches wide by 6.5 inches high.
With lovely colour, grain, and patina, this is a really nice writing slope in very good condition.

Very attractive 19th century specimen wood inlaid box with herringbone stringing.
19th century most attractive and unusual mahogany box decorated on all sides with boxwood inlay and intricate herringbone stringing, as well as specimen wood inlays, including a yew wood central plaque to top.
The top and bottom edges are moulded, and the whole stands on beautifully shaped bracket feet.
The interior is lined with the original damask fabric.
This is a great box for sewing materials, jewellery, a desk tidy, or whatever one wishes.

19th century solid walnut jewellery box or desk tidy, with carved design to top and bevelled corners, and with vacant brass plaque to centre.
The interior is leather lined with a large middle compartment surrounded by two smaller ones. The base is lined to protect the table, and there is an interesting scissor type gilt central clasp.
Perfect for a gentleman's jewellery box for watches, cufflinks, rings etc., or as a nice desk tidy.

Large mahogany cutlery or collectors box with drawer.
Large mahogany cutlery canteen or collectors box with drawer and two sections in total.
The rising lid opens to a vacant compartment. While the lid is raised, the drawer is able to open, revealing another vacant compartment. The sections are unlined, but can be lined if desired.
The fittings are all brass including a vacant cartouche, side handles, drawer handle and knob.
The box top has a moulded edge, and the whole stands on moulded pedestal feet.

19thC Victorian SAMPSON MORDAN complete leather writing box by most famous maker of quality goods.
19th century Victorian leather writing box by very famous London maker Sampson Mordan, who made pens, inkwells, writing boxes, and many unique silver and gold items.
High quality Moroccan leather exterior, as well as full leather interior, and a full length piano hinge shows the superior quality of the box.
Gilt brass plaque to lid with name of original owner.
Sampson Mordan Bramah type lock is present. There is no key.
Interior lid holds generous pull open leather paper folder, to hold stationary or important papers.
Size-13 inches wide by 9.5 inches deep, by 5.5 inches high.
Weight-2.4 kilos.
Condition is generally very good, with only some scuffs to the leather, and the clasp to the stationary folder is detached, but present. Needs new elastic piece to reattach it.
A very nice box to use for the storage of papers or stationary. Would look lovely on a desk. Made by a very collectable firm, this is offered at an excellent price.
