Stunning large superior quality silver plate punchbowl and glasses service in huge bespoke fitted case!
The most amazing and very large and heavy excellent quality unusual vintage silver plate punchbowl and matching glasses service contained in a huge fitted case.
Marked Paramount Finest Silverware, which is believed to be from Australia, this most unusual service comprises a large punch bowl on pedestal stand including 12 matching weighted glasses all embellished with a relief mounted cast decoration of a naturalistic grapevine with leaves and bunches of grapes. All pieces stand on stepped pedestal bases.
This very striking service can be used for punch, toddies, or as a wine chiller or cooler when entertaining. It can hold a large quantity of liquid or a good number of bottles for chilling and display.
Rather than the standard cups more normally found, these tall glasses are more generous in size, easier to hold and much more attractive.
The entire set is quite heavy, and the addition of the fitted box makes it even more unusual. It is a very convenient place to store and protect the service when not in use. The gilt line embellished bespoke leatherette case is velvet and satin lined, opens with two lids that open flat, and closes with two secure catches.
Size-bowl 9 inches high by 13 inches diameter overall. Interior depth is about 6.5 inches. Glasses-4.5 inches high by 2.75 inches diameter.

19th century Victorian lovely and elegant cut glass and silver plate claret jug with fern and star engraving.
19th century beautiful Victorian cut glass and silver plate claret jug standing on a footed base.
The silver plate mounts are engraved with a foliate design and beaded trim, while the elegant curving handle is cast, and embellished with foliage as well. The lid has a well fitting hinge and is surmounted with a cast finial.
The very elegant cut glass body is beautifully engraved with ferns, stars, swags and scrolls, and stands on a footed base.
Size-11.5 inches tall by 6 inches wide with handle by 5.5 inches diameter of body.
In very good condition, this is a wonderful survivor of the era, and excellent to use for any decanted wine.
It will be an impressive piece on the dining table or bar, or will make a wonderful gift.

Circa 1840 superb large Old Sheffield Plate pierced edge wine coasters with hallmarked solid silver centres, on pale turned wood bases, made by James Dixon and Son, famous makers.
Circa 1840 stunning pair of large, heavy and very impressive Old Sheffield Plate magnum sized wine coasters with hallmarked solid silver centres, on pale turned wood bases.
The coasters are gently lobed in shape, with cast pierced edges comprised of beautifully modelled grape vines, leaves, and bunches of grapes. The Sheffield English hallmarked solid silver centres, are mounted on pale coloured turned wood bases, lined with baize on the bottom to protect the table surface.
The centre solid silver hallmarks are complete with assay office, lion passant, Victoria duty mark, and maker, but no date year. James Dixon, the maker, only used this particular mark until 1847. That combined with the young Victoria head, puts the date circa 1840. Dixon and Son is a very good maker.
Size-very generous at 8 inches diameter exterior, and 5 inches diameter interior, by 2.5 inches high.
Weight-1 kilo together.
These lovely coasters will accept up to a magnum sized bottle, and are a stunning example of early Victorian craftsmanship. Usually seen as singles when found, it is excellent to find a pair, making them perfect for the dining table or bar.
In very good condition, they would be wonderful to own, or to give as a gift.

19thC Victorian silverplate tantalus by MARTIN AND HALL.
Mid-Victorian silverplate tantalus by excellent makers Martin and Hall, with three original cut glass decanters having lovely step cut necks and unusual square stoppers.
The stand, with swing handle, has beautiful beaded trim, and each division is united with applied shells. The whole stands on beaded ball feet.
Overall size is 13 inches high by 11.25 inches wide. Each decanter is 10 inches high by 3 inches wide.
This is a lovely all original antique tantalus which will be a pleasure to use. It is a fine example in very good condition.

Superb London 2004 solid silver wine funnel and stand.
London 2004 English hallmarked solid silver excellent quality wine funnel and stand, beautifully crafted in the Georgian style from heavy gauge silver and having a heavy weight of silver.
Wine funnels are meant to aerate the wine and allow it to breath, making the flavours emerge properly. They are also very useful for transferring wine to the decanter, to avoid spillage.
This two piece wine funnel has a stepped and curved body, and has a cast and applied gadroon edge to both bottom and inside edges, and a cast shell clip to the side. The curving spout is angled to direct the wine to the decanter edge when decanting, which allows the correct amount of aeration. The interior is gilded to prevent staining, and is pierced to the bottom to collect any sediment or cork bits. The push fit spout removes for easy cleaning.
The matching circular stand also has a cast and applied gadroon edge, and convex centre to accept and hold the funnel, as well as to catch any drips.
All pieces are fully and clearly hallmarked. Maker is Whitehill.
It is unusual to get a matching stand with a wine funnel. The two together make an impressive and stunning presentation.
Size-Stand 4.75 inches diameter by 1 inch high; funnel 5.25 inches high by 3.25 inches diameter.
Weight-245 grams.
This is a very elegant, stylish, and beautifully made piece, as well as a very functional one for the drinks enthusiast or wine connoisseur. It would make a wonderful gift or a treat for yourself.

19th century cut glass baluster shaped claret jug with cast and applied silver plate mounts in the form of trailing vines, leaves and grapes, with naturalistic twisted grapevine handle, over a beautiful cut glass body, with star cut base.
A grape bunch and leaf form the finial, and the interior is gilded.
This claret jug is of superb quality and both the cut glass and the silver plate are in excellent condition.

20th century Danish solid silver bar service.
Danish solid silver lovely and unusual bar service comprising a set of 4 pieces of bar ware in the original fitted case, and made by W & S Sorensen. The set comprises a corkscrew, bottle opener, ice tongs and long handled pierced stirring spoon. The "worm" of the corkscrew and the opener hook are steel.
Danish silver is very stylish, and these pieces are no exception to the rule. The long spoon has a delicate rat tail to the heel of the bowl, and a pierced design to the bowl itself. The stem is beautifully tapered and with a curved end. The sprung scissor action tongs also have an elegant banding to the handle, with a twisted design at both top and bottom of stem, and leafy grips, also having a rat tail.
The curved and thick tapered design of the cork screw handle makes it very comfortable to grip, while the bottle opener handle is a thicker version of the spoon.
The case is a grained patent leather type design with two catches.
