Birmingham 1937 silver gilt and enamel cased set of spoons, enameled with different English land and seascapes.
Mint condition English hallmarked solid silver gilt and enamel set of 6 coffee spoons in original faux tortoiseshell fan shaped case by maker H. Clifford Davis. Stems are enamelled to both front and back, and bowls are beautifully enamelled with different English landscapes or seascapes, to the reverse. Truly a unique set of spoons in excellent condition and of superb quality.
They appear to never have been used.
A lovely and unique gift, or for the collector of small silver, still having a practical use.

Birmingham 1937 solid silver cut circle shaped napkin ring.
Birmingham 1937 English hallmarked solid silver napkin ring in unusual 3/4 circle shape, with all over engraving, and raised plain bands to edges.
A diamond shaped cartouche holds initials, which can be easily buffed off if desired.
Made in a heavy gauge of silver, and in very good condition.
Makes an excellent gift for a special event, or to use on your dining table, mixed with other antique and vintage silver.

Birmingham 1937 English hallmarked solid silver tea strainer, with original turned boxwood handle, applied rope edge, and unusual shaped and pierced bowl. The bowl has applied gadrooned edges, and both round and star shaped piercings.

Birmingham 1938 large and extremely heavy solid silver cigarette or card case with lovely engraved dog to lid.
Unusual Birmingham 1938 English hallmarked solid silver cigarette or card case made by Alfred Nathan Andrews and Harry Stanley Andrews trading as A Wilcox.
This large and very heavy case unusually has a very realistically modelled dog engraving to the lid cover, probably a setter, retriever, or spaniel standing in a farm field. The case also has chamfered corners, sprung catch, and the original gilt interior and retaining strap.
Size-4.5 inches long by 3.25 inches wide.
Weight-very heavy at 185 grams.
Originally meant to use for cigarettes, and still able to be used for that purpose, this also makes a great card case.
Wonderful for the dog or hunting aficionado, the collector of novelty silver, or those looking for an unusual gift.
With just some light marks of use, in very good condition overall.

Birmingham 1938 solid silver and cut glass conical shaped whisky tot or noggin and solid silver tot label, made by William Suckling.
Birmingham 1938 English hallmarked solid silver and cut glass whisky jug with hinged lid, also called a tot or noggin, meant for serving individual portions of whisky. Made by William Suckling Ltd of Albion Street in Birmingham, and complete with lovely hallmarked Birmingham 1936 solid silver whiskey tot label and chain made by the same makers.
Originating in Scotland, and used for "go to bed" sized servings, these are most sought after pieces for collectors and whisky aficionados.
With conical shape, star cut base, generous curved handle, and bulbous curve under silver lid, the glass body is classic and lovely, a very elegant design.
The hinged lid solid silver top has a beautifully curved and angled thumb catch.
A great gift for the whisky drinker perhaps accompanied by their favourite bottle, sure to be appreciated in the evening in the study or drawing room. Also, a lovely piece for the collector. Undamaged and complete examples with tot labels don't come along often.
Other compatible uses are for water, vinaigrette or cream.

Birmingham 1938 English hallmarked solid silver sauce boat by A.E. Poston and Co, offered at a great price.
The boat has a nicely shaped edge with raised scroll handle having a fluted thumb rest. It stands on applied hoof feet with acanthus carved leaf above.
Size-6 inches long by 3.25 inches wide by 3.5 inches high.
Weight-120 grams.
A stylish and very functional piece in very good condition, which can certainly also be used for milk or cream if desired.

Birmingham 1938 solid silver souvenir spoon from the Empire Exhibition held in Glasgow in 1938, portraying the famous Art Deco Tait's Tower.
Birmingham 1938 English hallmarked solid silver souvenir spoon from the Empire Exhibition held in Glasgow in 1938, portraying Tait's Tower on the finial of the spoon. Mr. Thomas Tait was the chief architect of the exhibition, and his remarkable tower was 300 feet high and offered observation galleries over the countryside. It could be seen from 100 miles away. It dominated the exhibition grounds, and was its centrepiece. It was a monument to the Art Deco style, and was meant to be a permanent memorial to the exhibition. However, it was dismantled during WWII as it was being used by the enemy for navigation.
Size-4.75 inches long.
An interesting and functional spoon for the collector of Art Deco, spoons or Empire Exhibition souvenirs.

Birmingham 1938 unusual solid silver double section sliding action stamp case by Ahronsberg Brothers.
Birmingham 1938 very unusual solid silver English hallmarked sliding action patent double section stamp case with striped engraving to the cover, a vacant shield shaped cartouche suitable for personalisation if desired, and adorned with a turquoise button with silver surround.
The cover slides open via pushing open with thumbs to reveal the original gilt lined interior with middle separation creating two sections for stamps, and bearing the word patent.
Made by Ahronsberg Brothers of Albion Street, Birmingham, well known stamp case makers. This firm later became Albury Brothers in the 1940's.
Size-2 1/8 inches by 1.5 inches.
Weight-25 grams.
This is a very unusual design for a stamp case or box, and is not often found. It is very desirable for the stamp case collector, or the collector of novelty silver.
With just the usual expected fine surface scratching, this is in very good condition overall.
