Lovely large 19th century solid mahogany writing slope with secret drawer, inkwells and original key.
19th century large lovely solid mahogany writing slope having two brass side carry handles, a full length secret drawer to the side, original key, plus two brass topped locking inkwells and removable pen rest.
The secret drawer can only be opened by first removing the original pin closure on the inside.
The writing surface is a beautiful dark green velvet, and both halves hinge up to reveal storage underneath. The original brass stand hinges up on the side in three different positions to hold the slope open at an angle when only the pen rest and ink wells need to be reached.
Size closed-20 inches long by 9.75 inches deep by 6 inches high.
This is a lovely complete writing box for the collector, or a great decorative piece to use in any room.
With lovely colour and patination, it is all in very good condition.

Birmingham 1909 unusual Edwardian period English hallmarked solid silver and cut glass inkwell by Henry Matthews, having a solid silver top extending down to the wonderful chased and applied silver edge shoulder decoration, which appears to "drip" down over the cut glass body. Very unusual.
Lovely facet cuts to glass over entire base.
Size-3 1/8 inches diameter by 2.25 inches high.
With a minor mark to silver lid, in very good condition overall.
An unusual and lovely piece, which would look lovely on any desk or table, and doubles as a great paperweight.

c1830 lovely Georgian Old Sheffield Plate inkstand with double inkwells.
Circa 1830 Georgian Old Sheffield Plate shaped inkstand with cast foliate and shell decoration, two very beautifully shaped etched glass inkwells having engraved plate tops and desk tidy to centre, as well as two pen rests, one on each side. The whole stands on cast pierced scroll feet.
Old Sheffield Plate is very sought after and collectable, and has a lovely look.
Size 9 inches wide by 6.5 inches deep.
This is a very beautiful and elegant piece, not often found, which would look lovely on desk or table.
In very good condition, this would make a lovely present for a man or woman.

19th century lovely unusual Victorian onyx stationary box with delicate foliate engraved angled rising top revealing an original blue moire silk lined divided fitted interior, very suitable for papers or letters.
With beautiful veins to the onyx.
Fabulous gilt metal escutcheon to front of box.
A very unusual high quality stationary box which would have been an expensive purchase at the time it was originally bought.

Wonderful 19th century Victorian novelty travelling inkwell in the form of a Gladstone bag.
Unusual and beautifully made Victorian leather novelty travelling inkwell in the form of a leather Gladstone bag.
The leather is beautifully embossed in a unique diagonal sash-like scrolled pattern across the front, and has a plain patterned leather back.
The gilt metal frame has a false decorative button catch to the top under the handle. A hidden leather covered button on the side pushes to open the hinged lid of the inkwell. It reveals the original glass inkwell with separate hinged cover, and a full gilt metal interior.
All hinges and catches are working perfectly and are tight and secure.
Size-approximately 2 3/8 inches long by 1 7/8 high by 1.25 inches deep.
Weight-55 grams.
A lovely and very sought after and collectable item for the collector of inkwells or antique writing accessories. A great gift or a treat to own.

Birmingham 1902 unusual and collectable solid silver and leather double stamp box or case, made by Charles Penny Brown.
Birmingham 1902 English hallmarked solid silver and leather double stamp case or box made by Charles Penny Brown.
This large sloped case still has the original Edwardian stamps displayed under glass to the silver top, including half penny and penny denominations, from early in the reign of Edward VII. This was made the year after Queen Victoria's death.
Size-2.5 inches wide by 1.75 inches deep by 1 1/8 inches high in back and .75 inches high in front.
Weight-80 grams.
The heavy silver and glazed top sits on a sloped red leather covered base.
When originally made, it would have been placed on any well dressed desk, and used on a daily basis in a middle class home.
With just some minor marks of use, in very good condition overall with very clear hallmarks.
This is a great gift for the collector of stamp boxes or novelty silver, particularly as this is a seldom found style.

London 1966 heavy cast solid silver meat skewer form letter opener with shell terminal made by Payne and Sons.
London 1966 English hallmarked cast solid silver letter opener or paper knife in the form of a meat skewer, having a double struck shell and loop design terminal to both sides.
Made in the Georgian style, by Payne and Sons, in business as a family since 1790. These silversmiths and retailers specialised in silver by well known contemporary designers.
This lovely piece will grace any desk or table beautifully, and can be left out to weigh down papers, etc., as well.
Size-large and impressive at 10 inches long, by .75 inches wide.
Weight-quite heavy at 3 troy ounces.

19th century superb curved ivory letter knife or page turner, which is signed and engraved with charming engravings of monkeys.
On the obverse, one monkey is standing up holding a branch and attempting to knock down two butterflies. On the reverse, another monkey holds a cage and urges on the first monkey with his arm.
Size 9.25 inches long.
In excellent condition, with lovely patina, this is a wonderful object.

Circa 1900 original solid silver table magnifying glass.
Circa 1900, an original solid silver or sterling magnifying glass with handle, standing on three feet, probably of American origin.
The repousse leaf and garland design of the handle is also repeated on the solid silver surround of the magnifier.
Marked sterling to both handle and magnifier, and also marked with the number 29.
This is an all original piece, and not made up from old handles attached to new magnifiers, as many seen. It is also entirely made of sterling or solid .925 fine silver and glass.
Size-approx. 4.75 inches long by 2.25 inches diameter.
Weight-60 grams.
Both silver and glass are in very good condition.
A unique piece for desktop or table. It would make a lovely and functional gift or beautiful display piece.
