Description

Late 19th century Haviland Limoges, famous French maker teal and gilt 10 piece porcelain dessert service comprising: 6 plates, 1 tall comport and 3 other shaped serving dishes (one oval serving dish, and a pair of round servers with handles), all marked on reverse.
A very elegant colour and pattern. Teal outside border with gilt leafy embellishment and discrete impressed shell, outlines a foliate pattern on a white ground, the border repeated again in a slimmer form, finishing with a gilt medallion to centre.
The lovely tall comport with scalloped gilt base, is also beautifully decorated underneath with the foliate pattern. This is only seen with the best makers.
Also marked on reverse by retailer, C. Jenner and Co. of Edinburgh, very good retailers.
Sizes-plates are 8 5/8 inches diameter, oval server is 10 inches wide by 8 inches high, comport is 9 inches diameter by 5 inches high, pair of round servers with handles 9.75 inches wide by 9 inches high.
A lovely service by a superior maker in very good, rarely used condition.
