Description
Marked for 1922-1939, a Burgess Brothers china sandwich set comprising one rectangular serving dish and six square plates, in a chinoiserie design.Size-plates 6 inches square, serving dish 13 inches by 6 inches.
These services were used by ladies when serving sandwiches or cake during afternoon tea, bridge games, etc. The sandwiches or cakes were presented on the serving dish, and then people helped themselves using the individual plates. They are still lovely for the purpose, or whatever use you wish.
With some minor wear to the gilding, and a small chip to the underside of the large serving dish edge, in good condition overall, and a great value for 7 pieces.
Very stylish shapes for today as well.
