Description

Circa 1824-1850 Swansea Pottery blue and white willow pattern plate, marked with the impressed mark Dillwyn in semi horsehshoe shaped surround to the reverse.
The Swansea, Wales Pottery factory established in 1764. In 1802 Lewis W. Dillwyn bought out his partner, Haynes. Porcelain was first made in 1814 about which time L. L. Dillwyn and Bevington were the proprietors. Dillwyn left in 1818. Bevington & Co. were owners until 1824 when the Dillwyn returned and operated the factory until 1850. The firm was Evans & Glasson until 1859 and then Evans & Co. until 1870 when the factory shut down.
This is a very collectable make and a very popular pattern.

Weight for shipping-460 grams.
In good condition overall, there is some crazing to the glaze of this plate, and some slightly darkened glaze spots near the top centre of the white ground.
